He Is Home

My brother-in-law is home now. He arrived the day when are leaving Leyte. He got stranded in Manila for a day because his flight to Leyte was canceled due to bad weather. I feel bad because the schedule of his flight home was messed up. 'Haven't had the chance to meet my husband. But we will see him in the years to come. Another vacation with the family is coming up :)

Anyway, I am happy that he is home with his family now. Everybody is glad to see him again after two years of working abroad. I heard from my parents that my niece and nephew almost do not want their father to be out of sight :) Aw..that is sweet. Surely they missed their father's company and attention.

Benefiting In Our Vegetable Garden

Our vacation to the Philippines this year was on a rainy season. October seemed very tough for the people there because the country was hit by big typhoons. Even so, Filipinos still managed to strive despite of difficulties.

One of the main sources of living in the Philippines is farming. Filipinos are skilled farmers. Cultivating lands for planting crops is very important in every day living. The simplest way is gardening. My family in the Philippines loves planting. We have a small vegetable garden in front of the house. The vegetable garden has sorts of plants like fruits, vegetables, and herbal plants. If we want to eat green leafy veggies for lunch, my parents will pick some in the garden.

Over the years, our garden is not very organized. Maybe because of the small space in front of the house. But my father will start doing some changes. This year, he wants to make plots. And we noticed that he does not have garlic in the garden. Good timing. I saw in an article that, "November is the month to plant garlic." 'Will give it a try. It would be very nice to plant garlic so we do not have to buy them in the market.

Gardening is fun. It will not only give you the benefits of nature but it will also gives you the feeling of satisfaction as you tend and harvest crops in your vegetable garden. Just refer to gardening tips you can find in gardening articles online and you will be successful.

Reading, Singing, Math

Whenever I called long distance to my family, I never forget to ask how are the kids doing in school. I am so delighted to know that my niece and nephew learns a lot, especially my nephew who is in the First Grade. He is now interested and very diligent in reading. Before he goes to bed, he does his homework (with mother's help) and reads his books. On the other hand, my niece works on learning more in Mathematics. I know she needs help on that. But she is doing good and studying hard.

During my call, my nephew sang a song he learned in class. It was wonderful! Though he barely pronounced some English words correctly, still it sounded cute. He said he will sing the song to me and his uncle when we come for a vacation next month. My husband is anxious.

Will Be Busy With Travel Preparations

In the coming weeks, my husband and I will be busy with our travel preparations for our vacation in the Philippines. My family already knows we are coming. My niece and nephews are anxious for our arrival.

As usual, we had a package sent to them just two weeks ago. Like the others, it is full of gifts and knick knacks for everyone back home. I cannot wait for the package to arrive, but it will take 45 days to get there. I am praying for its safe travel...you know what I mean?

My husband had thought that the package will show up while we are there.
